QUESTION

I want to buy SHOP coverage. Can my employees pick their own plan?

Coverage for small employers | Small Employer Coverage |
ANSWER

If SHOP coverage is available in your area, you might be able to offer your employees a choice in plans. In most states, the SHOP enrollment process operates on a direct enrollment basis, through a broker or an insurer. To the extent that the enrollment entity can provide these options, you can offer your employees the opportunity to pick any plan at a given metal level, such as silver, or multiple plans offered by a selected insurer (again, this may not be available in every state).
